Dr Vanezis discusses a new treatment in the East Midlands for patients with refractory angina.
Some patients with angina (pain caused by insufficient oxygen to the heart) continue to suffer debilitating symptoms despite taking numerous tablets, often undergoing multiple stent procedures and sometimes even bypass surgery. These patients are classified as suffering with refractory angina.
In this clip from BBC East Midlands, Dr Vanezis talks about a new procedure he has recently introduced in Nottingham called the Coronary Sinus Reducer Device which helps people suffering with refractory angina.
Would you recognise the symptoms of heart attack?
In the UK, one person every 5 minutes is admitted to hospital suffering with a heart attack. Yet a recent survey by NHS England showed that less than half of people surveyed were not confident that they would recognise the symptoms of a heart attack.
In this clip from BBC East Midlands, we hear the case of a young lady who suffered a recent unexpected heart attack. We also hear Dr Vanezis explain that the symptoms of a heart attack can vary from person to person and that not everyone will suffer with central chest pain that moves to the left arm.
